Project Officer Recruitment (Part-Time Paid Position)

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Officer to lead the execution of the International Summer Course (ISC) Biotrop 2026.

This summer course is an annual program organized by the Faculty of Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, welcoming students from around the world to explore tropical biology and sustainable development in Indonesia and the ASEAN region. This year’s theme, “From Rainforest to Repository: Data-Powered Insights into Tropical Biodiversity,” focuses on the growing role of data in understanding and protecting biodiversity.

The 10-day program combines 4 days of online lectures and 6 days of intensive onsite activities. Participants will gain hands-on experience in DNA sequencing and biodiversity analysis, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and translating scientific data into conservation and policy insights

Responsibilities

As the project officer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead the execution of ISC Biotrop 2026 under the supervision of the course committee
• Develop and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
• Recruit and lead multiple teams to organize the summer course

Requirements

• Proven experience in event management, project management, or academic program coordination

• Strong teamwork and organizational skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment

• High level of initiative and problem-solving ability

• Able to spend 20 hours/week for the tasks from April to July 2026 (~3-4 Months)

• Experience and backgrounds listed below is a bonus but not mandatory:

  • Background in biology, ecology, environmental science, bioinformatics, or related fields
  • Experience with international programs or collaborations
  • Exposure to sponsorship or partnership management
