Teaching Assistant Recruitment

We are inviting motivated and curious students to join the Bioinformatics Course (BISB211606 - Undergraduate Level), held by Faculty of Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, as Lab Practicum Assistants for the upcoming semester (Feb-June 2026).

This role is ideal for students and freshgraduates who enjoy working with data, biology, and computational tools, and who want to strengthen their technical and communication skills while supporting other students in learning bioinformatics.

Responsibilities

As a Practicum Assistant, you will help with:

  • Assisting during practical sessions (Linux, R/Python, basic bioinformatics workflows)
  • Supporting students during exercises, assignments, and discussions
  • Helping maintain lab activites (slides, tutorials, datasets)
  • Providing feedback and answering student questions during class or online session
  • Organize a mini symposium from the student’s project

The practicals session will be held weekly on Monday and Tuesday at 13.00 - 17.00

Requirements

  • Undergraduate, graduate student, and freshgraduates in Biology or related fields
  • Already taken this course before, OR has basic familiarity with:
    • Command-line interface (Linux)
    • Data analysis (R and/or Python)
    • Biological data (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, etc)
    • Willingness to learn and help others (you don’t need to know everything!)
    • Good communication and teamwork skills
